Team Ladakh shines at 4th National Winter Curling Championship in Gulmarg

Team Ladakh achieved outstanding success at the 4th National Winter Curling Championship, held in Gulmarg from January 17–21, 2025.

Organized by the Curling Federation of India and the JK Curling Association, the championship brought together fierce competition from 18 participating states.

Ladakh's contingent, comprising 13 players and a manager, showcased exceptional skill and determination, earning a Gold medal in the Senior Curling Championship, a Bronze in the Senior Girls category, and a Silver in the Mixed Doubles event.

Medal Highlights:
•    Gold in Senior Curling Championship: Sadiq Ali, Mansoor Ali, Syed Shamsuddin, Ahsaan Ali
•    Bronze in Senior Girls: Rigzin Dolkar, Nazira Banoo, Deachen Dolkar, Stanzin Chotso
•    Silver in Mixed Doubles: Mohd Yaseen, Skarma Saldan

Ali Asgar, President of the Ladakh Curling Association, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the UT Administration, particularly Administrative Secretary Youth Services and Sports, Ladakh, Vikram Singh Malik (IAS), Joint Director Youth Services and Sports, Tahir Hussain Zubdavi, and Abid Ali, DYSSO, for their invaluable support in promoting curling in the region.

The championship featured a range of competitions, including Senior Men’s Curling, Senior Women’s Curling, Mixed Games, and Mixed Doubles.

Team Ladakh’s stellar performance underscores the growing popularity of curling in the region and serves as a testament to the players' dedication and the management's steadfast commitment to the sport’s development.
