Over 732 children participates in Trishul Mini Marathon
Over 732 children from 12 schools of Leh, Shey, Kharu, Sakti and nearby villages participated in season 2 of Trishul Mini Marathon on August 28.
The marathon themed, ‘Catch Them Young’ aligning with the Government of India’s initiative of ‘Khelo India’ was organised under the aegis of Trishul Division. The marathon aimed at identifying talent at a young age and nurturing the same through professional training to promote the culture of sports in Ladakh.
General Officer Commanding, Trishul Division flagged off the marathon. Chewang Motup, Padma Shri awardee, dignitaries from the Armed Forces and civil administration of Union Territory, Ladakh participated.
Runners from the veteran community and the Indian Army also took part in the marathon.
Later, the school children were briefed about life in the Armed Forces with the help of an Equipment Display to motivate them to join the Armed Forces and serve the nation.
