Ladakhi girl Farhana Eliyas wins bronze medal at Khelo India Youth Games, 2020
Representing UT Ladakh for the first time, Farhana Eliyas of Leh won a bronze medal in the 69Kg weight category boxing competition in the 3rd Khelo India youth games 2020 on January 23 at Guwahati, Assam.
Gyal P Wangyal, CEC, Hill Council, Leh; Tsering Sandup, Deputy Chairman and Executive Councillors of Hill Council, Leh congratulated Farhana for bringing laurels to the UT Ladakh.
Wangyal said that Farhana’s achievements in her maiden attempt will inspire the budding sportspersons in UT Ladakh and it will make the nation aware about the potential of UT Ladakh in sports.
He also extended his greetings to other athletes, coach and support staff of UT Ladakh who represented UT Ladakh in Khelo India Youth Games.
Sachin Kumar Vaishya, DC Hill Council, Leh also congratulated Farhana for the achievement and also appreciated the Youth Services & Sports Department of Ladakh for their efforts.
He said that Ladakhi children have tremendous potential to excel in the field of sports and expressed hope that this is just the beginning of a new Ladakh.
Farhana was first seen at the Ladakh School Olympics tournament where she exhibited a terrific performance throughout the tournament to win the competition.
