Mohd Abbass Nordakh has been appointed as the National Coach for the Indian ice short track speed skating team ahead of the 9th Asian Winter Games, set to take place in Harbin, China, from February 7-14, 2025.
As the newly appointed coach, Nordakh will lead a team of eight skilled skaters—four men and four women—to represent India in the highly competitive short track speed skating event. The team will undergo intensive training with a Korean coach in Daejeon, South Korea, to fine-tune their skills before the Games.
Nordakh’s appointment is a recognition of his tireless dedication to the sport and his significant contributions to its growth. The announcement was made by the President of the Ice Skating Association of India (ISAI), who also serves as the Vice President of the Asian Skating Union (ASU) and an executive member of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).
Deputy Chairman of LAHDC Leh, Tsering Angchuk, congratulated Nordakh on this prestigious achievement, praising him for bringing honor to Ladakh and for his crucial role in promoting ice skating in the region.
Nordakh will depart from Leh on January 6 for Delhi, before traveling to South Korea for the team’s training camp. Afterward, he will lead the team to China for the Games. This milestone marks a significant moment in the sporting journey of Ladakh.
