Indian Army hosts football tournament at Chumathang Astro Turf
The Indian Army, in collaboration with the Changthang Football Initiative, organised a football tournament for children from the Changthang region on November 26 at the Chumathang Astro Turf.
Over 120 talented students from diverse backgrounds participated in the tournament, showcasing the unifying power of sports. The event was marked by high levels of enthusiasm, skill, and exemplary team spirit. The Fire and Fury Corps aims to nurture talent through long-term initiatives such as sports training camps, infrastructure development, and partnerships with local schools.
Through Operation Sadbhavana, the Indian Army has made significant contributions to the socio-economic development of Ladakh, empowering its younger generation with the tools needed for success in life and sports.
Presiding over the final event, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Uniform Force stated, “We aim to empower the youth of Ladakh not just through education, but by instilling confidence and teamwork via sports.” The tournament served as a platform for children from remote border areas to discover their potential, develop their skills, and aspire to greater achievements.
The event concluded with an award ceremony where trophies and medals were distributed to recognise the talent and sportsmanship of the participants. The success of this tournament paves the way for future initiatives aimed at building a brighter and more empowered future for Ladakh's youth.
