Bhutan and Ladakh became even closer during the 17th and 18th centuries when one of his sons Stanzin Namgyal was schooled and studied in Bhutan and became a monk. Later he became the eighth spiritual leader (khenpo) in Bhutan hence it proves how both regions are historically connected. Acting president of LBA, Chhering Dorje welcomed the guests with a traditional white scarf (khataks). He further introduced LBA and the roles of LBA towards the people of Ladakh, especially Buddhist population.
He stated that the visit of high-power delegations from Bhutan will further strengthen the relationship and these kinds of interactions and visits shall take place more in the future.
