CEC reviews preparations for 18th CEC Ice Hockey championship in Leh
CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, convened a meeting on December 21 at the NDS Ice Hockey Ground to discuss preparations for the 18th CEC Ice Hockey Championship and other winter activities for the 2024-25 season.
The meeting covered major upcoming tournaments, including the 2nd Royal Enfield Ice Hockey League, Lt. Governor Ice Hockey Championship, High Altitude Himalayan International Ice Hockey Championship, and Khelo India Winter Games, all scheduled to take place in the coming months.
CEC Gyalson highlighted Ladakh’s immense potential for ice hockey, emphasizing the region’s unique advantage of offering world-class training opportunities to support the sport’s growth. The discussions focused on positioning Ladakh as a hub for winter sports, nurturing local talent, and the aspiration of sending athletes to the Olympics in the future.
A detailed inspection of the under-construction Ice Hockey Rink, a priority project for LAHDC Leh, was also conducted. This project aims to enhance sports infrastructure and provide better training and playing facilities for local athletes. CEC Gyalson reviewed the progress and emphasized the importance of completing the rink on schedule to boost the development of ice hockey and other winter sports in the region.
The meeting was attended by Namgyal Angchuk Gyapo, President of the Ice Hockey Association of Ladakh; PT Kunzang, Vice President of the Ladakh Winter Sports Club; Tundup Namgyal, President of the District Ice Hockey Association Leh; Tsering Tashi, Youth Service and Sports Officer, and other officials.
