6th National Ice Hockey Championship senior men’s begins at Karzoo

National Ice Hockey Championship for senior men’s was played at Karzoo Ice Hockey Rink on 5th February.
 
Eight teams participated in the game and were divided into Pool “A” and Pool “B”. In Pool “A” Army, Maharashtra, ITBP and HAWS were included and in Pool “B” JK Red, Kargil Ice Snow Sports, EX-MEN and JK Blue.
  
The first match was played between Maharashtra and Army. Army won by 11-0 from Maharashtra and in the second round JK Red team won by 10-0 from KISS.

After the League match concludes on 10th February, there onwards winner and loser of pool A and B will play again in the semifinals and final game will be held on 13th February. Nawang Gyapo, President Ladakh Winter Sports Club, Vice-President Tsering Norphel and Nony P, Wangchuk, General Secretary were present on the event.

Nony P. Wangchuk, General Secretary (LWSC) said that every year during winter they organized Ice Hockey tournament among various team. There are 34 working members in this organization. The main aim of LWSC is to give basic coaching camp which means (Learn to skate).  At the very beginning they gave coaching to children of 4 to 5 years old. Likewise they also organized Intermediate Ice Hockey Camp and Advanced Ice Hockey Camp. 
In Ladakh Ice Hockey is played between players of national and international countries including Canada, USA, Singapore and Locals.
 
Their second aim is to trained under-19 for the tournament and to select for Ice Hockey Team, in which Army and ITBP are not included, only local club can participate in it. In this tournament cash prize are distributed among the winning players.
 
National Ice Hockey Championship is still going on and we are planning for another coaching camp if the ice condition remained favorable said, Nony P. Wangchuk.
  
Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh and Ladakh Winter Sports Club are trying their level best to promote winter tourism in Ladakh since many years.
