4th LG cup Ice Hockey championship 2024-25 kicks off in Kargil
The 4th edition of the LG Cup Ice Hockey Championship 2024-25 commenced at the Ice Hockey Rink, Khree Sultan Chow Sports Stadium, Biamathang, Kargil, on January 16.
Executive Councillor for Revenue, LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Mohd Feroz, graced the occasion as the chief guest. The championship, set to conclude on January 20, began with an exciting match between the LSRC Army Team and Royal Chiktan, witnessed by hundreds of ice hockey enthusiasts.
“These games, with participation from teams across Leh and Kargil, not only foster sportsmanship and physical fitness but also serve as an important platform for cultural exchange,” remarked EC Feroz during the inaugural event. He assured that LAHDC Kargil would extend full support to promote ice hockey as a sport and as a means of boosting tourism in the region.
The event was also attended by Executive Councillor for Zanskar Affairs, Er. Punchok Tashi; Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse; Joint Director of Youth Services and Sports, Ladakh, Tahir Hussain Zubadavi; SE R&B, SE PHE, and other district officers.
Joint Director, Youth Services and Sports, informed that the championship features four boys’ teams and two girls’ teams from both Leh and Kargil. He further highlighted the administration's efforts to promote ice hockey by developing rinks at various locations across the Kargil district.
