Zonal level inter-school tournament kicks off in Kargil
ADC, Kargil, Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din Wani inaugurated Zonal Level Inter-School Tournaments at Khree Sultan Cho Sports Stadium Bemathang, Kargil on May 16.
The tournament was organised by Zonal Physical Education Officer Kargil under the umbrella of the Department of Youth Services and Sports Kargil.
Zonal Physical Education Officer Kargil informed that 58 schools including middle to higher secondary level are participating in the inter-school tournaments in volleyball, handball, and athletic events.
The tournaments began with under-19 boys and girls volleyball and handball matches. Nearly 300 students participated on day one.
ADC, Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din Wani said that the administration is committed to promoting sports in the district. He appreciated the participants and said that sports activities are part and parcel of education and that students in the modern age need to participate in sports activities.
While talking about the importance, ADC said sports are necessary for the physical and mental health of students. He advised students to keep themselves away from drug abuse.
While appreciating the teachers, ADC said that teachers have to work with dedication and prepare students to participate in district and national-level tournaments.
Officers and officials of the District Youth Services and Sports Department Kargil, and teachers of different schools were present at the event.
As per officials, after the block-level tournaments, the students will participate in district-level tournaments and further go for UT-level and national-level sports tournaments.
