Zanskar declared new district: EC Tashi hails historic decision
“This monumental announcement, made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on August 26, 2024, marks a significant step towards enhancing governance and development in the region,” EC Tashi said.
He noted that the creation of Zanskar as a new district demonstrates the government’s commitment, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, to bringing prosperity and opportunities to every corner of Ladakh.
“This move is expected to bolster local administration, improve infrastructure, and provide better access to essential services for Zanskar’s residents,” added EC Tashi.
“We are deeply thankful to thePrime Minister and his government for recognizing the unique needs of our region and taking this transformative step. The establishment of Zanskar as a district will undoubtedly pave the way for a brighter future for our people.”
The people of Zanskar eagerly anticipate the positive changes and opportunities this new district will bring and remain optimistic about Ladakh’s continued development under the visionary leadership of the Modi government.
“The long-standing struggle of the people of Zanskar since 1978 has finally been acknowledged and addressed by the Prime Minister,” Tashi concluded.
On Monday, the Union Home Minister announced the creation of five new districts in UT Ladakh, increasing their number to seven. The new districts are: Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Nubra, and Changthang.
