Workshop on sexual harassment of women in workplace held
Directorate of Social and Tribal Welfare, UT Ladakh conducted a workshop on Sexual Harassment of women in the workplace (Protection, Prohibition and Redressal Act, 2013) at DC Conference Hall on September 27.
The workshop chaired by Director, Social Welfare, UT Ladakh aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to create safer and more inclusive working environments for women.
During the workshop, Gender and Sexuality Specialist, Malavika Goyal gave a presentation and briefed about the evolution of (POSH).
She explained the types of sexual harassment and highlighted the responsibilities of employers and employees alike in ensuring a harassment-free workplace. She discussed various aspects of the law, including the definition of sexual harassment and the procedures for filing complaints, and also discussed case studies to better understand how to identify, prevent, and effectively address instances of workplace sexual harassment.
Also, an interaction session was held at the end of the training.
The meeting was attended by members of Mission Shakti and Vatsalya; JJB; Child Helpline, CWC, staff of District Social Welfare Office, DCPU, Special Cell for Women, one stop centre, and the NGOs.
