Around 140 students from Leh, Kargil, Zanskar, Nubra, Drass, Changthang, and Khaltsi took part in the five-day workshop ‘Inspire Science Camp’ from November 28 till December 2 at DIET, Leh.
The Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India organised the workshop in collaboration with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University.
The aim is to attract a large number of students in basic sciences and to promote research and innovation. It also intends to expose students in science, research and innovation to help them make their career decisions at the right time.
Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, CEC expressed gratitude to eminent scientists and doctors from premier institutes like ISRO, DST, IIMC, JNU and SMVD for conducting the science camp at Leh.
He said that such camp will bring new ideas, research, and innovation closer to far-flung areas. Such a common platform for students of all the regions of Ladakh will also helpful in strengthening unity, understanding, and respect among younger generations. And stressed upon the students to be futuristic, inquisitive, extrovert and urged them to make the best out of this camp.
He further requested the organisers to conduct such camps at a sub-divisional level.
