UT Ladakh Foundation Day: Students from Ladakh to showcase cultural performance at Raj Bhawans of all states/UTs
To mark the celebration of UT Ladakh Foundation Day on October 31, students and teachers from different schools of Leh district will be representing UT Ladakh and performing at Raj Bhawans/Raj Niwas in all states/UTs.
Commissioner Secretary, Tourism and Culture, Department, Mehboob Ali Khan informed the LG about the ongoing preparations to send cultural troupes comprising school boys and girls to every Raj Bhawans and Raj Niwas of the states and union territories of the country. He said that a committee constituted under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of Leh and Kargil selected boys and girls from different schools of Leh and Kargil districts. He informed that the cultural troupes comprise 18 from Leh (10 girls and 8 girls) from the Leh district and 17 boys and girls from the Kargil district.
Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) interacted with the students and teachers on October 9 at Sindhu Sanskriti Hall.
Commissioner Secretary, Mehboob Ali said that one common cultural performance specific to the place where students belong to will be performed by each group. He informed that the Culture Department would provide common costumes and musical instruments to students and would be holding camp in Leh from October 19 onwards to bring perfection to the performances of the troupes.
Stating that the boys and girls would represent Ladakh in all the states/UTs of India, LG asked them to leave a lasting impression of the rich culture and heritage of Ladakh in all Raj Bhawans/Raj Niwas. He instructed the Commissioner Secretary of the culture department, to ensure proper rehearsal of the troupes so that their performances could be perfected. He instructed that the students would perform two cultural programs in which they would wear similar costumes and carry identical instruments.
