Two drug peddlers held with 341 gms of Charas
District Police Leh arrested two men involved in drug peddling while conducting routine patrolling in and around Leh market on June 27.
The police recovered 135 gms of finger-shaped Charas-like substance from a person identified as Abdul Majid S/O Abdul Rehman a resident of Chute-Rantak Leh who runs a meat shop at Nowshera Market Leh. Further investigation into the case revealed the involvement of another person and a peddler namely Thinles Gyatso S/o Lt. Sonam Angchuk, R/o Digger Nubra who runs a bike rental shop at Zangsti was arrested. Police recovered approximately 206 gms of finger-shaped Charas-like substance from his rental room near Zangsti.
The case was registered with FIR No 96/2023 U/S 8/20/29 NDPS Act at Police Station Leh. Preliminary investigations have revealed that these individuals sell drugs at exorbitant prices to local youths and tourists.
District Police Leh appeals to the general public to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers and to join hands with Ladakh Police in the fight against the menace of drug abuse in the district.
