Training session on price monitoring centres held in Kargil
A training and capacity-building session on the functioning of Price Monitoring Centres for daily reporting of prices of 38 selected essential commodities was conducted by the Department of Consumer Affairs (Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India) in collaboration with the FCS&CA Department, Kargil, on October 10.
The session was presided over by Subhash Chandra Meena, Director, Department of Consumer Affairs (MoCAF&PD, GoI), with Sandeep Kumar, Junior Statistical Officer (DoCA, MoCAF&PD, GoI), delivering a key lecture on the topic.
The event was attended by Tahir Hussain, Director, FCS&CA Department, UT Ladakh; Khanzada Mohd Usman, AD FCS&CA Department, Kargil; Chief Inspector, TSOs, market checking squads, and other officials from the department.
The program aimed to familiarize FCS&CA Department officials with the process of price data collection and ensure efficient monitoring of the prices of 38 essential commodities, as is done in other parts of the country.
During the session, Subhash Chandra Meena provided detailed insights into the functioning of Price Monitoring Centres and the methodology used for data collection, ensuring a realistic representation of commodity prices at the national level. He emphasized the importance of Ladakh’s inclusion in this national platform for effective price monitoring, allowing authorities to take timely action when necessary.
The officials shared their suggestions and experiences related to price monitoring, followed by a thorough discussion on streamlining the process in the district.
