A one-day training program on sanitation and hygiene was successfully conducted on April 20 at the Conference Hall of the DC Office, Leh. The program was organized in collaboration with Harpic World Toilet College, Reckitt, Jagraon Pehal, and Green Sparsh Foundation (NGO).

Executive Officer, MC Leh, Stanzin Rabgais, facilitated the program under his guidance and strong support, playing a key role in its successful organization.

The initiative is part of the Harpic World Toilet College, founded by Jack Sim in Singapore in 2018, with the objective of improving sanitation standards and building skills across countries. The program has been active in several Indian states since 2022 and was introduced in Ladakh through the Ladakh Heart Foundation, coordinated by Tenzin Motup.

Addressing the participants, Executive Officer Stanzin Rabgais emphasized the importance of maintaining hygiene, stating that such initiatives are aimed at the welfare and benefit of sanitation workers. He highlighted the need for effective and respectful interaction with the public, professionalism in service, and maintaining good health through regular check-ups. He urged participants to actively engage in such training programs and make the most of the opportunities provided.

He further informed that staff quarters are being constructed at two locations with government funding for the benefit of sanitation workers. He also appreciated the efforts of the organizing agencies and advised participants to use the distributed materials, including bottles and gloves, responsibly.

The training focused on enhancing sanitation practices in institutions such as Municipal Committees, hospitals, and hotels. A medical camp and a government schemes enrollment camp for sanitation workers were also organized as part of the program.
