Traffic Police organises road safety rally in Leh as part of National Safety Month
The Traffic Police of Leh organized a road safety awareness rally on January 13 at the Ice Hockey Rink in Guphuks, as part of the National Road Safety Month.
The event was chaired by Altaf Ahmad Shah IPS, SSP Traffic Leh, along with dignitaries including Shruti Arora IPS, SSP Leh, and Kunzes Dolma JKPS, DYSP Leh.
SSP Altaf Ahmad Shah emphasized that the road safety awareness initiative had been underway for 13 days, with efforts extending to both Leh and Kargil. He stated, "We are conducting events throughout January to promote road safety, with participation from multiple departments, including the traffic police, ARTO, district police, and the office of the Deputy Commissioner. Ladakh, being a popular tourist destination, necessitates heightened awareness regarding road safety."
During the event, students, including children, skated on ice while carrying banners featuring slogans such as "Dad, drive safely, we are waiting for you," "I skate as my father drives me safely," and "Don't text and drive, keep the roads alive." The campaign also included innovative slogans to further spread awareness.
SSP Shah expressed hope that Ladakh would become an even safer and more attractive destination for tourists, stressing the importance of continued road safety efforts.
