Tourism department hosts four-day hospitality training for homestay operators in Leh
The Department of Tourism launched a four-day training program on November 12 at the Food Craft Institute (FCI) in Takskithang, Leh, to enhance hospitality skills among homestay operators. The program aims to improve service quality and promote sustainable tourism in Ladakh.
In her address, Padma Angmo, Assistant Director of Tourism, Leh, highlighted the initiative's importance in advancing sustainable tourism and enhancing the service standards of local homestays. She noted the program’s potential to open up new marketing opportunities within a sustainable framework.
On the first day, over 50 participants from across the Leh district attended the training, which focused on key aspects of hospitality, including customer service, cleanliness, cultural sensitivity, and creating a welcoming environment for guests. Sessions were conducted by experienced faculty from FCI, combining practical training with expert insights.
This program underscores the Department of Tourism's commitment to supporting local communities while elevating the visitor experience in Ladakh. The initiative strengthens Ladakh’s reputation as a leading sustainable tourism destination by raising hospitality standards in traditional homestays.
