Students Union, Dehradun, celebrates Losar

All Ladakh Students Union Dehradun with great pomp celebrated annual day cum Losar on 10th January at Dehradun.
The chief guest of the occasion was Lower Leh councillor. Phuntsog Wangdan (Shunu). Khenpo Shesrab of Drikung Monastery, Dehradun and Agarwal, leading business person of the town were the guest of honour.
The students showcased different cultural performance and lighted up the evening.
Phunchok Wangdan motivated the student union both morally and financially. He donated a sum of ₹1 lakh and 5,000 each to the students who topped in the school, undergraduate and postgraduate examination. He assured to extend his support in the near future also. Khanpo Shesrab and Agarwal also donated ₹10,000 each.
A member of the Union, Tsering Namgyal said, “It has been six years since the union has been formed, but we are still not registered. We talked and sought help from many politician but they give thousands of excuses.” Today ALSUD face lots of hurdles because of being unregistered.
All Ladakh Students Union Dehradun (ALSUD) was established in 2008. More than 300 students are studying in Dehradun, and the union is formed with a vision to help and support each other in times of emergency and during the admissions. Apart from the academic, the union also strives to make the students indulge active in different other activities -like sports, seminars on Buddhism and youth development.
