‘Startup India Seminar’ held in Leh
More than 120 aspiring entrepreneurs participated in a ‘Startup India seminar’ on December 20 at DC office conference hall.
The seminar was organised by the Department of Industries, Ladakh in collaboration with Invest India, an agency of Ministry of Industries & Commerce, Govt. of India.
Moses Kunzang, Director Industries and Commerce/ADDC Leh introduced the industrial scenario of Ladakh. He spoke about the high potential of industrial establishments in Ladakh with improved power supply and internet connectivity which is the backbone for any kind of industrial set up.
To provide necessary training and other basic information regarding investment, and business avenues to the youth, Moses Kunzang informed about setting up of Industrial Institute in Ladakh in coming two years. He informed that industrial policy will be launched soon for Ladakh.
Talking about the Startup India, Nishant Malhotra, Invest India representative said that the initiative was launched in January 2016 by Government of India to promote entrepreneurship through mentoring, nurturing and facilitating startups throughout their life cycle. The Startup India targets to provide a platform to the budding entrepreneurs so that they realize their startup dream and get incubated facility to take their idea to the next stage.
Participants raised the need for a single-window system to ease the loan facility, Ladakh centric startup policy, forward and backward linkages to facilitate marketing and to increase the shelf life of perishable items and to set up entrepreneur facilitation centre at rural level. They also shared their apprehensions and sought clarity about the benefits of Startup India.
Palak Bhatia and Dr. Preet Deep Singh from Invest India and Dorjay Wangchuk, Executive Manager, EDI Ladakh; HoDs of concern departments, representatives from SKUAST, banks and aspiring entrepreneurship of Leh district were present.
