Commissioner/ Secretary Civil Aviation Ladakh, Rigzin Samphel discussed measures to provide cargo facilities during winters by operating a special Cargo freighter/ flight in Ladakh on November 25. 

Administrative Secretary, Cooperatives Ladakh,  Ravinder Kumar, and Officers from Finance Department were present.
 
Detail plan was discussed to airlift essential commodities during winters through special Cargo freighter/ flight as per the tentative requirement worked out and projected by the Department of Cooperatives, UT Ladakh. Two sorties each of Cargo flight needs to be operated on a weekly basis for both the districts of Leh and Kargil. 

The Department of Civil Aviation in consultation with the Finance Department shall exercise on the cost aspects of the operation of the flight and subsidy component based on the Cooperative Department’s inputs so that it shall be submitted to the Competent Authority of the UT Administration of Ladakh for perusal and consideration.
 
Various other aspects such as procurement of fresh vegetables and its proper distribution through cooperative societies in various regions of UT Ladakh were discussed. Also,  identifying sale centers, establishing a control room to coordinate with stakeholders including utilization of the newly constructed cold storage were also discussed during the meeting.
