Social distancing maintained during free-ration distribution: ADDC Moses
District Administration, Leh collected a list of around 12,000 migrant labourers residing in Leh and its adjoining sub-divisions on April 4.
Moses Kunzang, Additional District Development Magistrate, Leh said that the list is prepared as per the directions of Government of India to provide free ration to the migrant labourers during the countrywide lockdown in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.
Out of the total listed migrant labourers, free ration has been distributed to around 8,200 labours by the District Administration while 3,000 labourers are being fed by their contractors such as BRO/GREF. In the coming days, remaining labourers will also be covered for free distribution of ration on a scale of 2.5 kg Rice, 1 kg Dal and half litre of cooking oil per person.
Moses Kunzang informed that during the distribution of these rations, social distancing norm was strictly maintained. Registration of the labour along with check-up and counseling in the view of COVID-19 was carried out. The Administration also provided masks and soaps at various places.
He further added that all the labourers in Leh district will be covered under this scheme and appeals Sarpanchs and nambardars to inform the District Administration in case of any problem.
