The enforcement authorities have issued notices to shopkeepers under Section 6-b of the Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) 2003, prohibiting the sale of tobacco products within 100 yards of educational institutions.

During recent field inspections, the enforcement team identified several shopkeepers repeatedly breaching this regulation. As a result, monitoring and enforcement efforts will escalate in the forthcoming days. Any shop found violating this law may face immediate cancellation of their Registration/License without prior notice, by the directive of the Deputy Commissioner (Chairman DLCC, NTCP), Leh, in accordance with the law.
