Shakar Chiktan clinches 1st Chiktan Premier League title by one run

Shakar Chiktan emerged victorious in the 1st Chiktan Premier League after defeating United Dargo by a thrilling margin of just one run in the final match played at Chiktan on May 10.

After winning the toss, Shakar Chiktan elected to bat first and posted a competitive total of 182 runs. In response, United Dargo fought hard till the final moments of the match but narrowly missed the target, finishing at 181 runs in a nail-biting encounter.

The tournament, organised by the 1st Chiktan Premier League Committee in collaboration with Venus Chiktan, witnessed participation from 22 teams representing different areas, making it one of the largest cricket tournaments ever organised in Chiktan.

Mehdi Khan was adjudged Man of the Match for his outstanding performance, while Azaj Dargo received the Man of the Tournament award.

The winning team, Shakar Chiktan, was awarded a cash prize of Rs 35,000 along with a trophy, while runners-up United Dargo received Rs 25,000 and a trophy.

CEC, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon attended the final match as the chief guest amid enthusiastic participation from sports lovers and local residents.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Akhoon congratulated both teams for displaying exceptional sportsmanship and talent. He highlighted the importance of sports in promoting physical and mental well-being and emphasized the role of sporting activities in the overall development of youth.

As a gesture of encouragement, the CEC announced one cricket kit each for both finalist teams. He also assured support for the development of sports infrastructure in the area, including the leveling, widening, and extension of the playground under the District Capex Budget in the coming financial year.

Councillor Chiktan Liyaqat Ali appreciated the successful organisation of the tournament and congratulated both teams for their spirited performance.

A large number of spectators, local representatives, and officials were present to witness the exciting final match.
