Divisional Commissioner/ Secretary Transport Department Ladakh Saugat Biswas released the rate list for Contract Carriages for each district – Leh, and Kargil on November 14. 

The rate is being revised for the first time since 2018.

The revised rate list brought out by the Office of the Regional Transport Officer is the new rate approved by the State Transport Authority, Ladakh. The RTO informed that the hike in 2022 is unprecedented and much higher than the previous rates issued in 2018.

Commissioner/Secretary Biswas stated that all vehicles holding contract carriage permits shall mandatorily keep a copy of the rate list published by the office of the RTO in their vehicle and must be produced in case a passenger demands.

He informed that the rate list will also be available on the Tourism Department’s website for the information of the masses/tourists and therefore encouraging a transparent and convenient flow of information.

Further, he urged the Transport Unions and vehicle owners not to publish any private rate list.
