Secretary, Social & Tribal Welfare visits Mahila Shakti Kendra, One-Stop Centre
Secretary, Social and Tribal Welfare, Padma Angmo visited Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) One Stop Centre (OSC) and Anganwadi Centre on April 20 in Leh.
The staff of Mahila Shakti Kendra apprised Secretary Padma about the various awareness camps and activities organised by the department. It was informed that One Stop Centre has received 49 cases, out of which 21 cases have been solved and 28 cases are in process.
Women facing physical, sexual, emotional, psychological, and economic abuse undergo rehabilitation at OSCs. The OSCs also facilitate immediate, emergency, and non-emergency access to a range of services, including medical, legal, psychological, and counselling support to women.
Mahila Shakti Kendra aims to empower women and make them self-dependent. It also aims to create an environment in which women realize their full potential, convergent support is being proposed for equal access to healthcare, quality education, career and vocational guidance, employment, health and safety, social security, and digital literacy.
In Leh, Mahila Shakti Kendra was set up in 2019 and the One-Stop Centre in 2018. In Kargil, Mahila Shakti Kendra and the One-Stop Centre were set up in 2021 which was e-inaugurated by LG Ladakh, R K Mathur on International Women's Day 2021.
