SAVE organises career counselling, panel discussion in Leh

The student association for village education SAVE, Nyoma Block organised, ‘SAVE WINTER MEET’ on February 15 at Sheynam Community Hall, Leh. Career counselling and panel discussion were conducted for a fresh pass out students from Changthang region.

PT Kunzang, Vice President, Ladakh Buddhist Association was the chief guest.
  
The speakers invited for career counselling were Dr. Nordon Odzer, ENT Specialist, Sonam Nurboo, SDM, Nubra, Padma Ladol, Civil Engineer, Rinchen Dolma, Sports teacher, Druk Padma Karpo. 

A panel discussion was also held in which Rebecca Norman, SECMOL Alternative Institute Adviser discussed the women issues in Ladakh, Tsewang Rigzin, Bureau -Chief, State Times spoke on the Media's role, its threats and boons in Ladakh and Dr. Sonam Wangchok, HCHF spoke on Academic Research Scholar in Ladakh: its challenges and opportunities. 

On the occasion, Cardboard frame made out of waste material was also inaugurated and Alumni network was launched.

Tashi Gyalson, President SAVE briefing about the motive of the organisation said that the reason behind its establishment is to help the students from Changthang, Nyoma Block. In the past, many students face end number of problems in finding better education centre and accommodation outside Ladakh. 

“We have an aim of opening a Changthang Cultural Centre here in Leh. We have already laid the foundation for the Save Learning Centre and have different wings such as the creative wing which teaches about the reuse of waste product, the usage of internet and photography. In outdoor and adventure wing we have recently completed Stok Kangri expedition and 25 girls got the chance to learn ice hockey. The Culture and Heritage wing work on the preservation of the culture of Changthang.”

Rinchen Lamo, Nominated councillor said, “You all have set an example not just for the students of Changthang but for the entire Ladakh. Guiding others with your knowledge is next to Godliness".

Seeing the current scenario of today’s generation, she appealed the organisation to teach the student about the proper usage of the internet, so that they can collect good information instead of misusing it.

Appreciating the work of the organisation, PT Kunzang said, “We are very happy to see the efforts that you have put in by helping the students in their overall development. Your efforts have managed to send a positive message around. People from the other place should also motivate themselves in contributing to such wonderful initiative.”

HE Khamdrak Rinpoche conveyed the importance of education and time. His Eminence said that the people should learn to help each other and preserve the culture. 
 
His Eminence also offered prayer (Marmay Monlam) for the Late Dr. Sonam Dawa and the member of SAVE on behalf of all the Changthang community offered 1000 butter lamps for the swift rebirth of Late CEC Dr. Sonam Dawa to the pure land of Amitabha.

SAVE was established in 2008 in Jammu by a group of student. Now at present, there are 120 students who are enrolled in the association. The SAVE is a regional students association working for the education, environment, and cultural preservation in the region. We aim to work for an Ideal state of the place, with various sustainable initiatives.

Rigzin Angmo, Deputy Commandant CRPF, Konchok Stanzin, Councillor Chushul Constituency were also present.
