Sajjad Kargili discusses Sankoo college and Turtuk-Hanu Road with LG Ladakh
Social Activist Sajjad Kargili called on Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat on August 9.
Advisor to the LG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS; Principal Secretary, School Education Department, Sanjeev Khirwar, IAS; Secretary, PWD, Ladakh, Micheal D Souza, IAS; Director, Finance, Dr Safdar Ali, IRS and Director, Health and Medical Education, Dr Motup Dorjey were present in the meeting.
Sajjad Kargili flagged several issues, including the sanctioning of a full-fledged Government Degree College at Sankoo; the construction of the Turtuk-Hanu road and the delimitation of the Bhimbet Constituency, etc. He suggested the implementation of an outreach programme on the lines of ‘Back to Village’ programme in Jammu & Kashmir to address issues of people residing in the remote areas of Ladakh.
He expressed his gratitude to the LG, Advisor and Administrative Secretaries for providing him with the opportunity to raise his concerns.
LG Ladakh directed Secretary, PWD, Michael D Souza, IAS, to expedite the construction work on the Turtuk-Hanu Road. He also assured that the status quo of the Sankoo College is maintained and stated that the proposal for a permanent Government Girls College would be taken up with the Government of India.
He also stated that outreach programmes on the lines of the Back to Village programme would soon be initiated in Ladakh to address issues of people residing in remote areas of the region.
