A one-day training programme under the SAANS (Social Awareness and Actions to Neutralize Pneumonia Successfully) initiative was successfully conducted at the Community Health Centre (CHC) Khaltse on November 27, under the chairmanship of Block Medical Officer (BMO) Khaltse, Dr. Shamim Ahmad.

The training aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of frontline health workers in preventing, identifying early, and effectively managing childhood pneumonia.

The session was led by Dr. Spalchen Gonbo, Consultant Paediatrician, who served as the resource person. He provided valuable insights into updated treatment protocols, case management strategies, and practical demonstrations to help participants address this critical child health issue.

A total of 50 healthcare workers from Khaltse Block participated in the training, including 35 Female Multi-Purpose Health Workers (FMPHWs) and 15 Community Health Officers (CHOs). The programme focused on practical, case-based learning, demonstrations, and interactive discussions to strengthen participants’ capacity to tackle pneumonia at the community level.

Participants remained actively engaged throughout the session, reflecting their strong commitment to improving child healthcare services in the region.
