Sankoo :

Since Ladakh became a Union Territory, the healthcare sector in the region has witnessed steady strengthening through improved infrastructure, enhanced availability of specialists, and the expansion of medical services at peripheral and remote health institutions.

The Community Health Centre (CHC) Sankoo is now routinely conducting elective Lower Segment Caesarean Section (LSCS) surgeries as part of its regular gynaecological and maternal healthcare services.

Following the joining of Dr. Rubia Banoo, Consultant Gynaecologist, three elective LSCS procedures have been successfully performed at the centre.

The surgeries were conducted by Dr. Rubia Banoo, Consultant Gynaecologist, with anaesthesia support from Dr. Amina Khatoon (Anaesthetist) and Dr. Shabir Hussain Bhat, along with the operation theatre staff. All procedures were carried out smoothly, ensuring the safety and well-being of both mothers and newborns.

The availability of routine LSCS services at the block level has significantly improved access to essential maternal healthcare, especially benefiting women from far-flung and remote areas who earlier had to travel long distances for such procedures.

In addition to surgical services, routine gynaecology OPD services are now fully functional at CHC Sankoo. A wide range of gynaecological healthcare services, including antenatal and postnatal care, family planning services, and management of common gynaecological conditions, are being provided regularly.

These developments underscore the continued strengthening of healthcare services at CHC Sankoo and reflect the government’s commitment to ensuring accessible and quality healthcare delivery at the grassroots level.
