Republic day celebration: MP Ladakh unfurls national flag at Stongday, Zanskar
Like all other parts of the country, 72nd Republic day was celebrated with zeal and patriotism on January 26 at Stongday, Zanskar. Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, MP Ladakh unfurled the national flag.
Padma Shri awardee, Tsultim Chonjor - the Manji of Ladakh who single-handedly constructed 38km road to connect Zanskar with Himachal Pradesh, State Awardee, Sculptor, Tsering Gurmet, Kyungyam; District Awardee, SHO Jigmet Singey Wangchuk; Councilor, Stanzin Lakpa &Stanzin Chosgyal, Sarpanches, and Village Heads; Sub District Magistrate, Police SHO and other officials and people of Zanskar was present.
Addressing the gathering, MP Ladakh expressed gratitude to the Covid warriors and Indian Army for their selfless service especially during the time of pandemic and harsh climatic conditions.
The day was also celebrated as a part of 13 days Khelo India - 1st Zanskar Winter festival. A snow sculpture of National Emblem made by the artist of Leh named ‘Kangsing’ was the main attraction.
