Principal Secretary reviews implementation of flagship schemes in Ladakh
Principal Secretary, Dr. Pawan Kotwal reviewed the implementation of flagship schemes of the Government of India in UT Ladakh on September 9.
Discussion was held on the progress of various flagship schemes, including One Nation One Ration Card, distribution of food grains and pulses under PMGKAY, single-use plastic in UTs, NHDM Tech Platform, Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), Health and Wellness Centres, Pradhan Mantri Jan Awas Yojana-Gramin, PM SVANidhi (Micro-Credit Scheme for Street Vendors, Pradhan Mantri Awaz Yojana-Urban, Agriculture Market Reforms, National Animal Disease Control Programme, Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, digital payment for the purchase of fertilizers, developing both districts as export hubs, PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises, privatization of power distribution companies in UTs, PM Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana, BharatNet Providing Broadband Connectivity in UTs and islands development.
While reviewing the progress of UT Ladakh, Dr. Pawan Kotwal emphasized the need for ensuring coverage of all the eligible beneficiaries under the flagship schemes. He directed the concerned officials to develop a suitable review mechanism to ensure that the targeted population avail the intended benefits.
While discussing the One Nation One Ration card scheme, Principal Secretary was informed by the concerned officials about its progress in UT Ladakh. He further urged the citizens to avail the benefits of the scheme. The officials were asked to ensure the successful implementation of the scheme and stressed the partial online monitoring system and check the status of the work.
The officials discussed the current status and the progress of the distribution of Food Grains and pulses under (PMGKAY). There was a discussion on waste management and single-use plastic in UT Ladakh. The concerned officials apprised Dr. Kotwal of the use of SUP items in all government offices and institutions, color-coded dustbin for the collection, and segregation of waste at source by the Housing and Development Department.
During the discussion on the National Digital Health Mission, Dr. Kotwal said that NDHM would bring a new revolution in the health sector in India and improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and transparency of health services in the country. Director Health informed about the progress of NHDM wherein Principal Secretary was informed about the status of the total health IDs generated, percent of public facilities approved, private facilities approved, public & private doctors covered.
Post-review of the flagship schemes, Dr. Kotwal discussed developing both districts as export hubs. He stated that pashmina, apricot, sea buckthorn has huge potential in Ladakh. He also asked the officials to expedite the work and submit the plan soon.
Commissioner/Secretary, Rural Development Saugat Biswas; Secretary, Animal/Husbandry/ Cooperative/ Agriculture, Ravinder Kumar; Additional Secretary, Health, Iftikar Chaudary; Director, Food and Civil Supplies Department, Anil Koul; Director of Housing and Urban Development Zayeeda Bano were present in the meeting.
