To review the final arrangements for the celebration of 19th Gyalsras Bakula Rinpoche’s birth centenary on May 19, a press conference was organised by the Organizing Committee on May 17 at Sankar Labrang, main market Leh.

Dr. Nirmal Singh, Deputy Chief Minister will be the chief guest on the occasion.

Morup Namgyal, Vice Chairman Organizing Committee said, “May 19 will be marked as a historical day for rest of our generation to commemorate the works and contribution made by His Eminence Gyalsras Bakula Rinpoche to develop Ladakh in terms of everything and to shape our society irrespective of all religions.”

He briefed about the programme schedule and said, “The statue (Drasku Thongdol) of his Eminence will be greeted from Spituk Targyasling monastery and the people will gather at 9:00 am at NDS ground from which the members of different community and students will carry out procession with the statue to polo ground Leh, where the celebration will conduct at grand level under the initiative of all religious head. At polo ground, there will be speeches of the different prominent figures cultural programme, the inauguration of Photo Exhibition on H. E Gyalsras 19th Bakula Rinpoche and followed by Argon archery.”

Dr. Angchuk said, “We are going to carry out the celebration throughout the year by conducting photo exhibition, seminars, public talk etc among the people.”

Chokje lama Lobzang Tsering and Gen. Angchuk, Spituk monastery also present on the occasion.

HIGHLIGHTS:

•   The guest from twenty outside countries including Mongolia, China etc are expected to join the celebration.

•    The release of CD in memory of His Eminence on May 18.

•    The photo exhibition will be carried out to all blocks of the district.

•    Calendar related to his works will be published.

•    The committee will organise public talk related to His Eminence contributions. 

•    All religions and schools promised to celebrate every event in future in the name of His Eminence to remember his contribution to the society.

•    Revive the Argon Archery which is oldest archery tradition of Ladakh.

•    Compile of books by taking the opinions and experience who worked with His Eminence.

•    Seminars to organise in Ladakh, at a national and international level in the coming days.
