Police organises addiction recovery camp for drug, alcohol victims

District Police Leh under “Operation Jullay” in collaboration with Retired Police Welfare Association Leh  and Health Inc Leh is organizes 20 days free residential recovery training camp  in Ice Hockey at Police Complex Agling starting from 5th to 22nd January. Over 40 youths have participated in the game. 

The training are for those male youths and children who are at risk from various kinds of addiction such as drugs/alcohol/ smoking etc and addicted from such substances.

The main purpose of this residential de-addiction cum recovery training program was to keep such youths engaged in sports activities and to make them mentally and physically strong without using any kind of addictive substances such as alcohol and other drugs. The main motive is to educate them regarding various options and possibilities to engage themselves in various activities in the society to make their life easy and healthy.

Health Inc Leh and Canadian High Commission are thankful to bring and donate Polythene of NICE RINK Company for international standard Ice Hockey Rink which District Police Leh has constructed at Police Complex Agling under the guidance of SSP Leh Dr. Sunil Gupta IPS and Ms. Sinthia (volunteer coach) of Health Inc and volunteers from Canada. 

District Police Leh deputed seven young policemen in Ice Hockey to undergo coaching in Ice Hockey as coach. These trained policemen will impart training to addicted persons and youths in future at the camp and in village level as well.

During the training program, the youths were given basic training in Ice Hockey. Besides the game, lectures, power point presentation, group tasks and discussion on various topics have been given and presented by eminent resourceful persons at the camp in the evening time. These activities are aim to refine their scattered mind and motivate them to think logically so that they can forget addictive substances and materials.

On 20th, January a friendly Ice Hockey match was played between participating teams. The participants have displayed their skill in Ice Hockey which they learnt in last 15 days at the camp followed by friendly match. 

Dr Sunil Gupta SSP,  Leh said that District Police Leh is striving to serve the people and imparting such training cum counselling to the youths who are at risk and are addicted from drugs, alcohol and other such substance is one of the agenda of J&K Police in the year 2016.

The participating youths have expressed their satisfaction and enjoyment during the training period. They feel energetic, self-confidence and like to say no to any kind of addictive substances at their level. They expressed their thanks to SSP Leh, Sinthia Hunk and retired Police Welfare Association President and members for organizing such camp in Leh for youths.
