In a landmark step towards empowering rural communities, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually distributed property cards under the SVAMITVA Scheme to Abadi Deh owners across various states and Union Territories on January 18. Among the beneficiaries were residents of Sani Village in Tehsil Zanskar, marking a transformative milestone in the region’s development.

The event, organized under the Panchayati Raj framework by the Block Development Department, saw enthusiastic participation. It commenced with a welcome address by the Block Development Officer (BDO) Zanskar, who underscored the occasion's significance and its potential to strengthen rural governance.

Tehsildar Zanskar delivered an insightful address, highlighting the objectives of the SVAMITVA Scheme, which include establishing a legal framework for rural land ownership and promoting economic empowerment. He also provided an update on the ongoing LLARMA survey, describing it as a groundbreaking step toward digitizing land records and enhancing transparency.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Zanskar elaborated on the long-term benefits of the scheme, including its role in reducing land disputes, fostering economic activity, and improving access to financial services. He congratulated the beneficiaries and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening rural infrastructure and governance. The SDM also emphasized the critical role of the LLARMA survey in ensuring accurate and transparent land record management.

The event was graced by the presence of the Nambardar, other members of Sani Village, and officials from the Revenue and Block Departments, reflecting strong community support and collective dedication to the region's development.

73 property cards were distributed virtually to Abadi Deh owners of Sani Village, including five female beneficiaries, highlighting the government’s focus on gender equity and inclusive development.

This initiative is poised to bring transformative changes to the lives of rural landowners by securing their land rights, reducing disputes, and enabling access to loans and developmental schemes. The distribution of property cards under the SVAMITVA Scheme underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to fostering a self-reliant and progressive rural India.
