Over 60 youth participate in Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament at GDC Kargil
Government Degree College (GDC) Kargil, in collaboration with Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), organised the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2026 at the college premises on March 7. The initiative, aligned with the national vision of Viksit Bharat@2047, provided a platform for young voices to deliberate on key national issues, foster leadership skills, encourage civic participation, and contribute ideas towards building a developed India.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 60 young participants who showcased their oratory skills, policy insights, and commitment to nation-building through structured parliamentary-style discussions.
Mohd Sajjad Khan, Councillor of Saliskot–Faroona, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Addressing the participants, he emphasised the importance of active youth involvement in shaping India’s future and commended the participants for their thoughtful contributions.
Jigmet Spaldon attended the programme as the Special Guest and encouraged the young participants while sharing valuable perspectives on leadership and civic responsibility.
Principal of GDC Kargil, Disket Angmo delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, participants, organisers, and collaborators for making the event a success. She highlighted the role of such programmes in empowering the youth of Ladakh to become proactive contributors to national development.
Sayed Mustafa Kamal, NSS Programme Officer at GDC Kargil, served as the chief organiser of the event. Under his leadership, the programme was conducted smoothly, reflecting the commitment of the NSS unit and the college towards youth engagement initiatives.
As part of the multi-level structure of the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament, implemented nationwide through MY Bharat, the event concluded with the selection of the top five performers. These participants will represent the region at the State-level competition in Leh, advancing to higher rounds and gaining the opportunity to contribute to national-level discussions.
