60 farmers participated in one-day farmers training programme to improve the structural shape of fruit trees on March 1 in Phey.

The programme was organised by the Department of Horticulture. Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, an expert in pruning and training (cutting techniques) demonstrated the methods of properly shaping the fruit trees for improving the standard quality and size of fruits in the coming years.

Director, Horticulture, Ladakh, Mohd Yousuf Dhar urged the orchardist to take maximum benefits from the experts.

District Horticulture Officer (DHO), Leh, Kunzang Wangmo stated that farmers should improve the quality of fruit trees. She added that Ladakh would soon be on the world map for exporting fruits.

The programme concluded with an interactive session with the farmers and the distribution of tool kits.
