New Districts Committee meets with department heads to plan future development
The New Districts Committee (NDC) convened a meeting with Directors and Heads of Departments on November 26 to discuss developmental strategies for the proposed new districts. The meeting was chaired by Pramod Kumar Jain, IAS (Retd.), alongside Tsering Angchok, IAS (Retd.).
Key attendees included Chief Engineer of the Power Development Department, Tsewang Paljor; Director of Urban Development, Moses Kunzang; Director of Finance, Dr. Safdar Ali; Deputy Secretary of the Cultural Academy, Tsewang Paljor; ARTO Leh, Inzar Ahmad Rana; PCCF Brij Mohan Sharma; and District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Tsering Tashi.
NDC Chairman Pramod Jain directed officials to draft comprehensive visions, notes, and proposals for the new districts. He emphasized the importance of planning for modern and well-equipped districts that meet the needs of the population.
Jain highlighted essential infrastructure and amenities to be considered, including, a proper master plan, traffic management systems, sewerage and sanitation facilities, reliable water and electricity supply, solar energy projects, fire safety services, sports infrastructure and solid waste management
The committee stressed that public demands for a full-fledged district with these basic amenities must be incorporated into the final report.
This meeting is part of an ongoing effort to engage with departmental heads across UT Ladakh to develop a structured and future-oriented framework for the proposed districts.
