A newly formed District Committee, chaired by Pramod Kumar Jain, IAS (Retd), along with members Kacho Asfandyar Khan, IAS (Retd), Tsering Angchok, IAS (Retd), and ex-officio members Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, IAS (Deputy Commissioner, Kargil), and Santosh Sukhadeve, IAS (Deputy Commissioner, Leh), has commenced operations as per Union Territory of Ladakh Order No: 444-LA(GAD) of 2024 dated September 25, 2024. The committee is actively engaging with stakeholders through tours and meetings in the newly proposed districts.

The committee has established its office at Silk Route Guest House, near the Tourism Office in Leh, and can be reached via email at chairman.ndc@ladakh.gov.in. Citizens and residents of the Union Territory of Ladakh are encouraged to submit memoranda, suggestions, and viewpoints on the formation and operationalization of the following new districts:
1.    Zanskar
2.    Nubra
3.    Sham
4.    Drass
5.    Changthang

The committee has already conducted a four-day tour of Zanskar and Kargil, meeting with several deputations and individuals to hear their representations. These inputs are currently being processed for further action.
