Nehru Yuva Kendra organises Neighbourhood Youth Parliament in Leh
A district-level Neighbourhood Youth Parliament themed, 'Be the voice of New India and find solutions and contribute to policy' was organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Leh, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, GoI in collaboration with Kendriya Vidyalaya, Leh on March 11.
The Youth Parliament was organised under the aegis of 75th Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav to celebrate the 75th Independence of the Republic of India. Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, Ravinder Kumar and Deputy Commissioner, Leh presided over the function in presence of Councillor Chuchot, Mirza Hussain.
Secretary Ravinder appreciated the organising committee and advised the youth to take maximum benefits of the platform to realise their leadership potential. He lauded the role of youth in various national programmes like Swacch Bharat Abhiyan, Fit India Movement and others. He advised the youth to take maximum benefits of the National Youth Policy and always give their best effort in achieving their specific target leading to the development of the nation.
DC, Leh Shrikant Suse expressed his gratitude to the youth for their cooperation in controlling Covid-19 cases leading to the grand celebration of the youth parliament. He lauded the achievement of the youths in different fields, especially winning the national ice hockey championship in Kaza Himachal Pradesh. Furthermore, he informed the youths about various initiatives like Rewa Scheme for the youth. He also encouraged them to apply for the Staff Selection Commission Examination (SSC) coaching classes for the upcoming recruitment exams in UT Ladakh.
Councillor, Mirza Hussain encouraged the youth to participate in different competitions for realising their leadership potential. He advised the youth to take full benefits of their voting rights in bringing quality leadership and contributing towards the development of the country.
Earlier, Deputy Director, Tajamul Ara welcomed all the dignitaries and participants and spoke on the objectives of the programme. She further motivated the youth to register themselves for maximum participation in the National Voter Awareness Contest organised by the Election Commission of India on their official webpage. The programme continued with different speeches on youth empowerment followed by cultural performances.
Memento was presented to DC Leh for his immense contribution in controlling Covid-19 in the Leh district. Similarly, a memento was also presented to Councillor, Chuchot, Mirza Hussain and other officials as well. Prizes were also distributed to the participants during the programme.
Principal, Kendra Vidyalaya, Phunchok Wangyal presented the vote of thanks.
