National Panchayat Awards: Sumoor and Khaltse Panchayats bring pride to Ladakh
Sumoor Gram Panchayat in Panamik Block and Khaltsi Panchayat in Khaltsi Block have been honored with the prestigious National Panchayat Awards 2022-23 on December 11. The awards were presented by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu.
Sumoor Panchayat received the Clean and Green Panchayat Award for its exceptional commitment to cleanliness, sustainability, and environmental conservation. Meanwhile, Khaltsi Panchayat was conferred the Panchayat with Good Governance Award in recognition of its excellent governance practices and dedication to community development.
The awards were received by Santosh Sukhdeve, Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Leh; Junaid Amin Bhat, District Panchayat Officer; and Lawang Tashi, Panchayat Secretary, Sumoor.
CEC Adv. Tashi Gyalson extended heartfelt congratulations to both Sumoor and Khaltsi Panchayats for their outstanding achievements. He expressed pride in the recognition these Panchayats brought to Ladakh and remarked that the awards are a testament to the dedication and hard work of the local communities. The accolades highlight the region’s commitment to progress and sustainability.
CEC Gyalson also congratulated Executive Councillor for Rural Development, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee; DC/CEO Santosh Sukhadeve; Director Rural Development, Sajad Qadri; concerned Councillors; DPO Leh; and the entire team of RDD Leh for their leadership in driving rural development initiatives.
Adv. Gyalson emphasized the importance of LAHDC’s role in supporting these achievements. He stated that this recognition sets a strong precedent for others, as the teamwork and vision of all involved have paved the way for a sustainable and prosperous Ladakh. These awards not only honor the individual efforts of Sumoor and Khaltsi Panchayats but also serve as a symbol of the region’s broader commitment to sustainable governance and community-driven development.
