National Health Mission organises World Oral Health Day in Leh
World Oral Health Day, themed, ‘Be Proud of Your Mouth, look after your oral health for your happiness and well-being’ was observed at Government Boys Higher Secondary School and Government Girls Higher Secondary School on March 19 in Leh.
The day is celebrated to raise awareness of oral health and prevent any form of oral disease.
The World Oral Health Day was organised by the National Health Mission, Leh, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. Dental Surgeons from Sonam Norboo Memorial Hospital, Leh, Dr Fayaz Ahmad and Dr Norzin Angmo raised awareness on oral health and measures for preventing oral diseases. The programme was attended by students and teachers of both the schools along with the officials of National Health Mission, Leh.
During the awareness programme, doctors spoke on different oral diseases, their symptoms and measures to prevent oral diseases through necessary oral care steps like tooth brushing, dental flossing, mouth rinsing and tongue scraping. The young students enthusiastically participated in the event by getting answers to their queries from expert doctors.
