MP directs early completion of Stakna bridge, visits Sakti, Martselang constituency

To take stock of the development in various villages, MP, Thupstan Chhewang visited Sakti and Martselang constituencies on May 31.
Enquiring about the delay of work at the construction site of Stakna Bridge, MP gave strict direction to EC Works Dorjey Mutup and SE PWD to start the work in next 3 days and to take strict action against the concerned contractor if fails. A deadline of 20 days was given to complete the work.

He also visited Shang, Martselang, Chomoling and Changa villages.

 Jamyang Tsering Namgail, Councilor Martselang highlighted the major three long-pending demands of Shang village including the installation of BSNL tower, protection bandh of Shang-Martselang nallah, reconstruction and realignment of Shang road which was damaged severely in successive flash floods in past years.  

 MP, Chhewang said that he will try his level best to approve the DPR of Shang-Martselang Nallah at the centre and state level. Meanwhile, he directed concerned agencies for the construction of protection bandh near the vulnerable points. Regarding BSNL tower, MP said that he is putting every effort to sanction the tower in Shang village under USO fund at the earliest. Regarding Shang road, a source of the fund under CSS will look into for the earliest construction.

For the proper allotment of Igo-Phey Command area land in favour of all the families of these villages, MP Chewang assured to convene a meeting with DC, Leh shortly for the long pending demand.

Appreciating the speedy developments in the Martselang constituency in last one and a half year, MP Chhewang assured to release required amount of MPLAD funds on a priority basis to all the villages. 

During his visit to the Sakti constituency, MP inaugurated the community hall of Sakti and Kharu which was built by the Rural Development Department at a cost of ₹34 Lakh and ₹25 Lakh respectively 

He informed that a total of 25 Centrally Sponsored Schemes have been launched so far in India out of which many has been implemented in Leh. These schemes will be beneficial in covering bigger projects related to infrastructure, agriculture, skill and social developments which are hard to meet by Hill Council due to the limited district budget. 

He appreciated the effort of the teaching staff of Council Model School Sakti and villagers for the increase in enrollment of students from 5 students in November 2016 to a total of 60 students at present. He ensured to finance from his MPLAD fund for the plastering of school walls, construction of a multi-purpose cemented ground for Roller Skating /Ice Hockey purpose in the school premises.   

Gyal Wangyal, Councilor Sakti demanded the early execution of water diversion work at Changla and Warila for irrigation purposes under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchaye Yojna. 

EC Agriculture gave detail information about PMKSY and informed that ₹4.5 crores have been projected for each. The restoration of irrigation Khuls will also be done under this project. He ensured that all their demands will be conveyed to the concern officers and educated the villagers to work under convergence through MGNREGA. 

At Thakthog monastery the monks demanded parking, toilet facility and protection band for the monastery owned lands. Thupstan Chhewang assured to provide a fund for the toilets out of his MPLAD funds.
