Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya, arrived in Leh on June 22 on an official visit to participate in the Sindhu Darshan Festival.

Upon her arrival at Kushok Bakula Rinpochee Airport, the Minister was warmly welcomed by senior officials of the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Department and the Food Corporation of India (FCI).

Those present to receive the Minister included Director, FCS&CA, Tahir Hussain; Assistant Director, FCS&CA, Ruth Mary; General Manager, FCI J&K Region, L. Chatru Naik; Assistant General Manager, FCI J&K Region, E. S. Jagan; District Manager, Srinagar, Kuru Lal Meena; Manager, Kargil, Tsering Toldan; Manager, Leh, G. Mohd; along with other officials of the department.

The visit of the Minister is aimed at reviewing the functioning of the Public Distribution System (PDS), food grain management and consumer welfare initiatives in the region.

During her stay in Ladakh, the Minister is scheduled to interact with departmental officials and review ongoing schemes and developmental activities related to food security, public distribution and consumer welfare.
