Milk Cooperative Societies of Nubra region called on CEC Gyalson Highlights various issues and demands for harnessing milk products in Nubra region

Members of various milk and dairy cooperative societies of Nubra valley discussed various demands and issues with CEC, Hill Council, Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson on January 27 at Council Secretariat.

Deputy Chairman, Tsering Angchuk and Councilor Panamik, Tsering Sandup were also present.

Members of various milk and dairy cooperative societies requested allotment of land for the various milk and dairy cooperative societies of Nubra subdivision, proper setup of milk pasteurization machine for the societies, allocation of fund for construction of office and other essential setups in Nubra, and arrangement of proper transportation for collection of local milk from different villages of Nubra region.
 
The delegation informed the CEC that more than 600 milk-producing farmers have already applied for registration with different milk cooperative societies in Nubra region. They said that Nubra valley has a huge potential for milk production at a large scale but due to lack of proper systematic facilities, the farmers could not fetch benefit from their milk production.
 
CEC Gyalson assured to explore all possible means to make the milk industry of Nubra profitable and employment-generating business in the coming months.
