Member Secretary, Ladakh Legal Services Authority, Spalzes Angmo met Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at Raj Niwas on April 6.

L-G inquired if the recent case of rape and attempted murder of a minor girl in Leh can be put on the fast track for a speedy trial to provide justice to the victim and her family members. Spalzes Angmo informed that a Special Court under POCSO Act has been established to provide a speedy trial in the case.

He also inquired about the suo-moto cognizance taken by the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court of the increasing number of dog bite cases in Ladakh and the public interest litigation (PIL) initiated on the issue. He highlighted the need for various measures such as the sterilization of the dogs and using dog collars to keep the dogs under control. He emphasised the need to bring the population of dogs under control through the collective efforts of the Administration, Hill Councils, PRIs, and Army/Paramilitary forces.
