Mega legal awareness camp held in Kargil

A mega legal awareness camp for one day was inaugurated by Alok Aradhe, Chief Justice, J&K High Court in presence of Ajit Singh, Chief Justice, Gauhati High Court on June 22 at Hussaini Park, Kargil.

The camp was organized by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kargil under the overall supervision of the State Legal Services Authority (SLSA) J&K High Court.

The aim was to create mass awareness of their entitlements under the law, to apprise them about the availability of free legal services and to connect them to different welfare schemes and programmes.

Around 2000 people from different parts of the district were provided first-hand information about various legal services as well as Central and State sponsored schemes.
 
The Chief Justice was accompanied by the senior functionaries of the State Legal Authority, Sanjiv Kumar Bhagat, Principal District and Session Judge, Kargil, Vikas Kundal, Deputy Commissioner Kargil and officers of the district administration.

More than 25 informative stalls were put up by the government departments and organizations displaying schemes and programmes for the benefit of the people. Alok Aradhe and Ajit Singh also inspected the stalls and enquired about the criteria and facilities being provided to the beneficiaries.

Job cards and agriculture equipment were also distributed to the beneficiaries under Rural Development and Agriculture schemes, crutches and orthopaedic shoes by REWA an NGO besides clothing materials and religious literature by Islamia School Kargil (ISK) and Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT) Kargil among specially-abled children and other identified beneficiaries.

The NALSA theme song was also played along with audio-visual clips about the development of the legal service institutions in the Post- Independence period and the provision of various legal services available to the citizens.
