A meeting regarding the empowerment of specially-abled persons in the district was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din Wani on December 19.

ADC took a review of facilities provided in government buildings/offices for specially-abled persons and directed the concerned department to make every government building disabled-friendly. While taking a review of the construction of toilets in various schools and healthcare institutions, the ADC directed retrofitting wherever possible and ensures enough space inside the toilets.

Superintending Engineer PW(R&B) Kargil informed about the action plan which has been submitted including size and free space in toilets for specially-disabled persons. The CEO and CMO informed that the ramps are already constructed at various institutions of health and education and for the construction of toilets only the budget is awaited.

ADC directed the CMO to identify health institutions and submit the action plan for the installation of facilities for specially-disabled persons.

DPO assured that the action plan for public toilets at various places in Kargil district will be submitted at the earliest.
