Mass awareness programme on Drug abuse and Illicit trafficking held in Trespone
The Youth Educational Society, Trespone, in collaboration with the District De-Addiction Centre (DDAC) Kargil, religious organizations IKMT and JUIAKL, and Police Station Sankoo, organized a Mass Awareness Programme on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking at Panchayat Ghar-A, Trespone, on February 7. Coaching centre students, parents, and members of the local community actively participated in the programme.
Syed Raza Razvi, representative of JUIAKL, in his address highlighted the harmful effects of drug abuse and called for collective cooperation among the DDAC, religious organizations, and the community to spread awareness, particularly among the youth.
Dr. Sheikh Ghulam Hussain Abidi, representative of IKMT, delivered a strong message to students and parents on the causes and severe consequences of drug abuse. He emphasized its damaging impact on individuals, families, and society, and urged all stakeholders to fulfil their social and moral responsibilities to curb the growing menace. He also stressed the need for close cooperation with DDAC Kargil to guide the younger generation in the right direction.
Sub-Inspector Feroz Ahmad, SHO Sankoo, spoke about the increasing drug menace and briefed participants on legal provisions and punitive actions against drug-related offences. He urged students to remain vigilant and stay away from illegal and harmful activities.
Imtiyaz Hussain, Project Manager, DDAC Kargil, highlighted the rising concern of drug abuse in the district. He informed participants about the free treatment and rehabilitation facilities available at the DDAC Centre and encouraged those in need to seek timely assistance. He also advised the community to remain alert and avoid harmful substances.
Sajjad Hussain, Principal, HSS Trespone, addressed the gathering and explained the causes and effects of drug abuse. He emphasized the crucial role of parents in guiding and protecting their children and urged them to actively participate in awareness initiatives.
Dr. Syed Abbas spoke on how individuals fall into drug addiction and shared preventive measures. He encouraged parents to maintain strong communication and supportive relationships with their children. He also appreciated the Youth Educational Society, Trespone, for organizing the awareness programme.
Executive Councillor Agha Syed Mujtaba addressed the gathering and spoke about the dangers posed by drug abuse. He urged parents to actively participate in such programmes in the future and suggested organizing special parent-level awareness sessions. He commended the Youth Educational Society for its valuable efforts.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Syed Jamal, Chairman of the Youth Educational Society, Trespone, who expressed gratitude to Executive Councillor Agha Syed Mujtaba, IKMT, JUIAKL, SHO Sankoo, DDAC Kargil, Principal HSS Trespone, other dignitaries, and supporting organizations for their efforts in spreading awareness and guiding the younger generation towards a healthy and responsible future.
